Gibralfaro Castle is a fortress located in the city of Málaga, Andalucía (Spain).
It was built during the fourteenth century by Yusuf I of Granada, on an ancient Phoenician site also contained a lighthouse that gives its name to the hill Gibralfaro (Jbel-Faro, or mountain of light). The castle was under heavy siege by the Catholic Monarchs during the summer of 1487. After the siege, Ferdinand took as the residence, while Isabel I of Castile chose to live in the city.
