Castle the Gilblalfaro

Castle the Gilblalfaro

There constructed during the 14th century the Yusuf of Granada, on a former Phoenician enclosure that also was containing a beacon that gives name to the Gibralfaro . The castle was an object of a strong siege on the part of the Kings Católicos during the whole summer of 1487. After the siege, Fernando Catholic took it as a residence, whereas Isabel I of Castile chose to live in the city.
It was constructed to shelter to the troops and to protect the Fort, due to the widespread use of the artillery.
